Cornerback Darrelle Revis and the New England Patriots have reached agreement on a one-year, $12 million deal, according to league sources.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released the star cornerback, and New England was quick to pursue Revis, in an effort to replace Aqib Talib, who abruptly left for the Denver Broncos this week.
Revis has yet to officially sign the contract or pass the team physical, but upon completion of those two tasks, Revis will remain the league’s highest paid cornerback.
Revis’ former team, Tampa Bay, released the star after being unable to trade him. The move saved Tampa Bay a $1.5 million bonus, and reduced a 3rd round pick to the New York Jets to a 4th rounder– which was conditional based on the trade that sent Revis from New York to Tampa Bay.
